A recent visit to my favourite Sunday eatery did not disappoint. Chef Jessica Shepherd and her husband Luke Grant had us all rolling off our chairs, tummies filled to the brim with delicious food. The menu is seasonal and changes every week, all locally sourced.
It is a set menu, which takes the stress out of having to decide on what to eat. Dietary requirements are all met as long as Chef Jess is e-mailed beforehand. Platters of food arrive at your table and you serve yourself as you would at home, but without all the effort and hassle of having to prepare it yourself. The restaurant is on the De Meye wine farm, so wine tasting before lunch is obligatory. There is a perfect wine to match whatever is being served for lunch.
In summer or when the sun is shining the seating is all outside under the trees with blankets to throw down after you have eaten and need to have a nap before you drive home. When the weather is cold and rainy, there is a small intimate dining area with a good log fire.
This is an excellent way to celebrate a special occasion with good friends or simply treat yourself to a beautiful lunch amongst the vineyards.
I highly recommend it.
It is my family favourite!
